About

Learn a little about me

My Background

I am an award-winning freelance composer, music producer, sound designer and audio engineer. Born in Michigan, USA,  I have spent most of my career working in the music and filmmaking industries in Washington, DC, and Los Angeles, CA.

I have always been addicted to three things: coffee, sushi and music. While I know I should probably join a support group for the first two, my third addiction has inspired my amazing, creative career as a freelance composer and producer of original music for TV, documentaries, commercials and visual media since the late 1990s. My success has been driven by a motivation to do my best to help clients and artists make music that goes beyond their expectations while making the process as easy as possible.

I studied music and filmmaking at Interlochen Arts Academy, the University of Southern California (USC) and Hampshire College before beginning my career in the entertainment industry. After college, I worked as an associate producer with GMMB in Washington DC overseeing post-production sessions for TV and radio. While creating music scores and songs is my true passion in life, my background in the filmmaking industry has given me a unique understanding of how to compose music for film and visual media.

My Experience

In a career spanning over 17 years, I have created original music scores, songs and sound design for well-known global brands like Panasonic, NIKE, Ford and Chrysler, and for some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry including National Geographic, Discovery Channel, MTV, SONY, 20th Century Fox, NBC, FX, CW, Showtime, Starz Network, BRAVO, PBS, and A&E.

In 1998, I began working as a freelance music composer, mixer and producer. Since then I have provided original music composition and performance for TV, documentaries, commercials and independent film projects, as well as audio engineering, recording, editing, mixing and mastering of music soundtracks, sound design, songwriting and arranging.

Over the years, more than 20 songs I composed and produced have been placed in commercials and in TV show soundtracks, including Smallville (WB/CW), One Tree Hill (WB/CW), Dirt (FX), Windfall (NBC) and Showtime’s “The Real L Word”, including the show’s theme song. I also composed original music scores for both of the Barack Obama Presidential Campaigns and for the US Olympics and Paralympics.

I have also produced music for a number of solo artists and bands whose albums have been featured in Hot Press Magazine, Billboard Magazine, CMJ New Music, Time Out, New York Press, Alternative Press, The Village Voice, the Washington Post, and the Washington Times.

And as an experienced musician and performer in my own right, I have recorded, mixed and produced my own material and toured in the US and Europe with a number of indie rock bands.

My other skills and superpowers include bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, piano, video production, video editing, cooking with eggs, ping-pong and movie trivia!
